Lisa Kenion
Lisa Kenion
My name is Lisa Kenion.. I was born in Charlotte, N.C. in 1959. I grew up in Charlotte and then attended East Carolina University, earning a B.F.A in painting in 1982. I moved to Ohio in that year and in 1983 started attending graduate school at Kent State University. I earned my M.F.A. in 1987 in painting, although I had started to make three-dimensional work as well.
Not long after graduate school I began working as a contractor casting bronze at Studio Foundry, a lost wax casting facility. In 1988 three associates and I bought the foundry and we’ve been managing it ever since.
The themes in my work are the result of a great love for nature, a keen interest in art and cultural history, my yoga practice, and an enduring interest in the intersection of science, philosophy and spirit.
